What are some good sites online to shop for mountain biking shoes? Both of the local bike stores near my house have an extremely limited selection of shoes (like three pair each). Performance and Nashbar seem to have a good selection, but never the right sizes. What I'm looking for is a shoe (SPD) that you can get off the bike and walk around easily. I'm not looking for the type of shoe that looks like a road shoe with a little tread. Any help would be appreciated.
Honestly, I would try a few more Local Bike Shops, even if you have to travel a bit. Shoes vary greatly in their geometry, and it's relatively easy to end up with a pair that doesn't fit well. At least try them on at the shop, and then if the price differential is huge, consider getting them online.
if you can't find what you want online at Perf or Nashbar, try REI. Decent selection and they're having a sale. They are also good to deal with.

Until you know a little more about how various brands fit you, the local shop is the best bet unless you don't mind spending money on shipping to return stuff you get online and don't like. Shops aren't easy to deal with in that department, though. Most of them can order lots of shoes, not just what they stock…..ask to see their distributor catalog and get pricing on the ones you like.

http://www.bicyclebuys.com has tons and tons of shoes also…..mostly closeout stuff, but tons to look at and they'll surely have something to fit you in a style you like.

mx 165 lakes MTB shoes is one of the better examples of a well made SPD shoe with a great sole for grip and such, are relatively stiff for efficient cycling; many of my fellow riders do a bit of scrambling and exploratory. lest not forget it is a great shoe for slickrock (moab) and other rock surfaces. plus they come with the ability to have cleat/spikes if need.
go to universalcycles.com. they have a great and fast price matching system, and selection of bike goods. lakes fit pretty much to size, but don't err on going too small.

you just can not buy shoes online and expect them to fit properly. you need to find a bike shop, with a larger selection, even if you have to travel to a larger city. don't waste your time , money and a headache on catalog shoes.

The two brands that I would look at are Shimano and Lake. Both do good MTB shoes (These, by definition must be able to walk in, since with MTB you will end up leaping over styles etc.).

In any shoe, not just cycling shoes, a size from one product will not fit your foot the same as that same size from another product, even if those two products are from the same manufacturer. Proper and comfortable fit are essential to getting the most out of your cycling shoes. There is no substitute for trying them on. I suggest you range a little further to find bike shops with a better selection. Of course, once you have the correct size for a specific shoe, you can order that shoe online.
